TERRY LYNN GASKINS

INDIVIDUAL | Inducted 2020

For nearly 20 years, Terry Lynn Gaskins supported Chicago’s LGBT community through her services as a photographer and a humanitarian. She is probably best known as the staff photographer for Gay Chicago Magazine, but she has also donated her time and talents to benefit such organizations as the Lesbian Community Cancer Project (Women Who Love Women Calendar), Friends of the Arts, The Children’s Place, Test Positive Aware Network, The Hearts Foundations, Team Chicago, Chicago Canine Rescue, and Pets Are Wonderful Support.

Her photography has been featured in Metra, The Advocate, Los Angeles Girl Guide, Circuit Noise, Scoop, Pride, Time Out Chicago and the Chicago Tribune. She has documented the plight of the homeless, through a show at Looking Glass Theatre. She has operated her own gallery, and she organized art shows featuring the works of others. The Friends of The Arts and the Illinois Gay Rodeo Association have honored her for her work and her contributions, and she was named “business of the year” by the Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce
